I know I haven't written much in the last little while, but my brain was poisoned with too much good tidings and holiday cheer. It has spent the last few days leeching off of the radiation from my new computer monitor in an effort to cleanse itself. Until it becomes fully functional again, or until I get bored with Need For Speed: High Stakes, here is a tid-bit from a LiveJournal member, codycode.
By the way, happy new year, everyone.
Life
You have to stop and think sometimes of what life brings you. At any time all that can change.
I guess you could look at life like a game of poker. We are all dealt different cards from the deck, everyday. Sometimes those cards are good sometimes bad, sometimes they help, and sometimes they hurt.
Every hand is different just like everyday (weather it seems to be or not) is also different. And like a poker hand, is affected by choices we make. “Do I throw this card, or do I keep it.” That decision can win the hand, or lose it, just as decisions in life can help you or not.
In another way life is like poker, you bet a lot on it. We put high stakes on so many things in life that we just really shouldn’t. We put too much on small things, and only on the win. And we often do things without thinking how we may lose.
In larger terms, we often think we won’t lose. We think that no matter what we will always be the winner. We do risky things to get ahead, to get thrills, and in the process we do a lot that makes us lose ourselves.
Now I know a lot of people are not like that, but there are enough that are. There are enough people who gamble on what they think they know, when they really need to learn more.
Now, turning to a positive side, life brings many good things also. Many things, that we overlook much of the time. We overlook the little gifts that have been dropped our way. And when we do see them, notice them… we soon forget about them.
Some of us have gifts of cheering people up just with our presence. That is a gift we have been given in life. Do you have any gifts you have forgot about? People say I have a gift for writing truth and to make people think. I am not sure, but I will leave that up to you.
Take this time now to think about your life, and where you put your priorities. Do you take put high stakes on things that mean nothing? When you should put them in the strength you get from family and friends.
Have you forgotten your gift? If you have, please find it again, it may mean little to you, but the world to someone else.
